URGENT - Time Sensitive

Peter Bretan, MD, FACS, AMA Delegate from CMA
AMA Resolutions: See My Recent Post | Help Stop Resolution 603

"I am an AMA Delegate and will represent your views on two opposing resolutions at the upcoming House of Delegates meeting in Chicago. Resolution 603 is one-sided and overlooks the fact that all ceasefire agreements are negotiated with everyone's well-being in mind. It also fails to consider the lives of Israeli hostages.

Help me stop Resolution 603 at the AMA. This is your and your colleagues' opportunity to record your opinions on this site. I will keep your posts confidential and summarize everyone's opinions in my testimony at the AMA."

We are stronger together.

Protest of the San Francisco Marin Medical Society's Statement:

Addressing the unwarranted, ill-informed, and counterproductive Executive Society Board of Directors’ (4/16/24) on the conflict between Israel and Gaza.

Dr. Bretan Resigns: Following the San Francisco Marin Medical Society’s Statement

Subject: Resignation from SFMMS

Conrad Amenta, CEO SFMMS

Dear Conrad,

In these violent times of war and conflict, it is important that we as physicians not fan the flames. Also, it is the policy of most credible medical associations, not to involve themselves in Sovereign Nation's policies especially if it supports violence here or terrorist organizations. Your support of Hamas had been previously vetted well by members of your society at the AMA and your call for a cease fire in Gaza is against CMA and AMAs policies. On a personal note, I have 2 daughters in law and a granddaughter who are Jewish, thus find
your recent statements extremely offensive.

For all these reasons I must resign my membership from the SFMMS.

Medical Ethics and Community Focus:

Understand our foundational belief that healthcare professionals should focus on local issues first, maintaining an unbiased approach to international politics to prevent discrimination and improve community healthcare outcomes.

Subject: Re: Resignation from SFMMS

SFMMS's primary response to Dr Bretan's resignation letter was to accept his resignation by CEO Conrad Amenta and to refer this matter to society President Dennis Song. Dr Song invited further discussions. Dr Bretan's response:

Dr. Bretan Speaks Out:

Dennis,
I guess there can't be any discussion because of the demand for a cease fire supports Hamas and SFMMS is no longer neutral with this conflict. The unrest going on will escalate causing Jewish Americans lives to be not safe.

Did you know Gaza was a free country with a cease fire in place on Oct 6th. Then the genocide on Oct 7th with hostages taken. My plea is to speak out against Hamas, against Anti Semitism and that Israel has a right to defend herself.
Talk to John Maa. He has great ideas...........and a friend who understands the issues.

This is not a negotiation for me, it is about the safety and survival of my 2 daughters in law and my granddaughter, along with all their relatives.
